Top amateur and national racers rev up their motorcycle engines as they prepare for the 8th Leg of the Enersel Forte Philippine National Motocross Series at Quirino Province on September 10 and 11.

Golden Wheel Awardee and the first Asian Motocross Champion Glenn Aguilar is still expected to dominate the Pro-Open category that he topped in all past seven races. Aguilar, once named Asian Rider of the Year, will lead the prestigious race that will once again gather the best Filipino riders from all age categories.

The motocross event will be hosted by Quirino Governor Junie E. Cua as part of the 5-day celebration of the 40th founding anniversary of this province on September 7 to 11. The celebration, dubbed as “Panagdadapun Festival,” an Ilocano word which means assembly, will gather the Quirinians from Diffun to Nagtipunan to participate in the activities lined up for the weeklong celebration. This year’s “Panagdadapun festival” will again carry the theme “I Love Quirino,” which symbolizes the unity of the Quirinians towards the development of the province.

The yearly Quirino day motocross event is part of the province’s efforts to promote Quirino as the sports capital of northeastern Philippines. Last June, in celebration of the governor’s birthday, the Governor Junie E. Cua Invitational Motocross Cup was also held at Quirino.

SEL-J Sports CEO and President Jay Lacnit, who finished first in the Executive B category and 7th in Executive A during the 7th Leg, is proud of the Enersel Series as it is already making waves against the Philippines’ premiere motocross event only on its second year. Lacnit said that about 95 percent of the country’s top riders are with SEL-J and the government supports the event.

The race in Quirino is a continuation of SEL-J Sports’ efforts to revive the popularity of motocross as a sport in the country as well as help in tourism promotion. SEL-J trains young and talented riders to become world-class racers.
